Early Success for NC State Tri Team at MACTC Opening Race

The NC State Triathlon team participated in the MACTC conference season opener Patriot’s Sprint triathlon in Williamsburg, VA on Sept., 9th, 2012. With more than 16 guys and girls racing for the wolfpack, the men’s team finished in 4th place while the women’s team finished in 7th place. Asked, how the weekend went, NC State’s tri coach, Brooks Doughtie, stated, “The team wanted to compete and see where they stood as a team. We had several top guys sitting out as well as our top girl this year, so I think the team gained a lot of confidence from this race, and I’m excited for the next few races.”

Up next for the wolfpack triathlon team is the Wilmington YMCA sprint that will takeplace on Sept. 22, 2012 in Wilmington, NC. Charlie Lambrecht stated, “I feel like we
can improve our standings and I can’t wait for Wilmington.” After the Wilmington race is the conference championship, so in just a few short weeks the team will know where it stands. Stated Doughtie, “The fall races really do start quickly, so the team has jumped into training from day 1 of school, and they have really worked hard.”

The NC State triathlon team is a club sport that focuses building a team atmosphere on the road to a top overall team finish at USAT Collegiate Nationals.
